NY6536 : Ruin by the Maiden Way

Ruin by the Maiden Way
Ruin by the Maiden Way
Looking west past Cuns Fell towards the northern Lake District fells, with Blencathra and Skiddaw in the centre. The 1:25,000 map describes this ruin as a sheepfold, and the larger scale map calls it a livestock pen, but the gable end and opening clearly show that it was some kind of shieling (or shepherd's hut).
