Heading towards Moel Fenlli on the Offa's Dyke Path
Moel Fenlli, at 551m, is the second highest peak after Moel Famau in the Clwydian Range. The Path does not go directly over the top but skirts the summit on the west side. The heather on the mountainside has been managed for grouse by cutting and burning patches each year. The burnt areas form breaks and gaps in the heather which help to provide fire breaks, and they also help the grouse. The grouse need the heather to be patchy so that they can feed in the open and then run back into the heather to avoid predators.
