SU6332 : 'Errol Lonsdale' at Ropley

'Errol Lonsdale' at Ropley
'Errol Lonsdale' is an ex-War Department saddle tank locomotive and it, along with 'N' class 31874, were the first steam locomotives to operate on the fledgling Watercress Line. Both have now moved to other locations, with 'Errol Lonsdale' being at a steam centre in Belgium and the 'N' at the Swanage Railway, nearing completion of overhaul to mainline standards.

On the right of the view is the 'tent' in which West Country class locomotive 'Bodmin' was first restored to running order whilst in preservation, completed in 1979. 'Bodmin' has also moved away and is currently undergoing overhaul at Carnforth.

As would be expected, the scene here has changed considerably. The 'tent' is long gone, replaced by a fully equipped engineering workshop and locomotive shed.

The year of this image is speculative.
