Ropley has certainly changed over the years!
Ropley has certainly changed over the years!
The 'up' platform at Ropley was not used in the early years of the Watercress heritage line. Trains ran only from Alresford to Ropley, and they all started and terminated in the 'down' platform here. It was not until the line extended to Medstead that the 'up' platform was brought into use to allow trains to pass at Ropley. The station looks a lot different now (in 2020). See SU6232 : Ropley, Hampshire: view of station platforms for a more recent view (albeit from the opposite direction).

The year of my image is speculative.
