West to Ashdub
The exit point from the CROW Access Land is very obvious via a gate with much signage about ground nesting birds, dogs, people, public rights of way etc., much of it poorly phrased and deeply ambiguous. The path across the Access Land was fairly easy to follow, too, but from this point, heading WSW where the public footpath is the only right of way, traces of it on the ground became so faint as to be wholly concealed by a fairly thin covering of snow. Since the next wall crossing was hidden in the dip, simply heading for the next stile/gate was not viable, but a compass bearing took us pretty close - showing the value of carrying proper gear even when the visibility is excellent !
