Small Tortoiseshell (Aglais urticae) Caterpillars
Small Tortoiseshell larvae feed colonially on Stinging Nettle (Urtica dioica) until ready to pupate, when they disperse. Formerly very common, this butterfly suffered a collapse in numbers a few years ago, so it's good to see evidence of it making a recovery.
