Ringlet Butterfly on Catsear
The woods are busy with Ringlets (Aphantophus hyperantis) at the moment. This one obligingly sat still on this Catsear (Hypochaeris radicata) to have its photograph taken. The common name comes from the prominent circles on the underwings, five on the hind wing and two on the forewing.
