Starmount Lodges are at the site of the former Starmount bleachworks and Lomax papermill, at Blackshaw Brook Valley in Little Lever. Following closure in the 1970s, the site stood derelict for 27 years until it was reclaimed ca2005. The formerly industrialised valley now provides open space and a recreational resource for the growing communities of Bradley Fold, Radcliffe North, Breightmet and Little Lever.

In addition to walking, Starmount Lodge and the associated Browns Road lagoons are suitable for fishing (Radcliffe Angling Society LinkExternal link manages the lodges) and wildlife conservation.
