Castles of Munster: Shanid, Limerick
A third of a circular keep standing on a natural mound within a bailey that extends to the NE. It is in fact circular only on the inside, but is multi-sided outside. Captured by Hugh O'Donnell in 1601, it was probably built c1200-10 by Thomas Fitz-Maurice.
