NS3678 : The Dookers
taken 6 years ago, near to Renton, West Dunbartonshire, Scotland

The Dookers
The name, a local one, refers to the pool. Compare NS3678 : Pool and ruin of lime-kiln on Carman Muir, in which it is seen from the other side, from the high ground shown in the left background of this picture.
There are remains of cornstone workings in that high ground (NS3678 : Former cornstone workings on Carman Muir), and the remains of a lime kiln are set into the upper part of the near slope: NS3678 : Remains of lime-kiln (detail). If the pool was present when the kiln was in use, it may have been employed in slaking the burnt limestone.
The skyline hills, centre to right, are on the other side of the Clyde.
