The sheep are still using the old walls to shelter as can be seen by the nettles.
Shown on Jeffery's 1770 map of Westmorland the building could date to the 1690s when the area was part of the 'Forrest of Meldon' as a hunting lodge.
It has been marked as a ruin since at least the 1860s.
