Pear Mill

Pear Mill or Pear New Mill as it was officially called is a Grade II* listed mill LinkExternal link built between 1908 and 1912 initially by A H Stott & Sons of Manchester and completed by Philip Sidney Stott of Oldham. It was planned as a double mill but the second part was never built. It housed a twin Manhattan Compound engine. In 1929 the mill was bought by Combined Egyptian Mills. It was modernised in the late 1950s when electrically-driven ring frames were installed and in 1965 it was taken over by Carrington Vyella. The mill closed in 1978.

It is now in multi-occupancy. Tenants include a martial arts academy, a vintage emporium and tea room, an Addidas factory shop, a climbing centre, sea cadets, a play centre and much else. LinkExternal link
