Bolt on St. Leonard's Church
One of many ways the Ordnance Survey recorded spot heights across the country until digital and satellite mapping came to the fore. This bench mark was used during the First Primary Levelling, England & Wales, and was levelled with a height of 151.8090 feet [46.2714 metres] above mean sea level (Liverpool datum). It was included on the Selby to Newcastle-upon-Tyne levelling line in 1856.
