A view over the Sandy Bowl, Porthcawl
A view over the Sandy Bowl, Porthcawl
A view at the former Sandy Bay Caravan Park (parts of which have, in recent years, been given over to hosting touring caravans and camper vans again). The image looks from a spot above the feature known as the Sandy Bowl towards houses at the southern end of Rhych Avenue and the (yellow) lifeguard station above Rhych Point.

Porthcawl’s Sandy Bowl, a depression in the surrounding landscape, is roughly oval in shape with a fairly flat grass bottom surrounded by a narrow tarmac road, and moderately steep though fairly short grassy sides. On the basis of its appearance, it would seem that it is partly natural, partly a human creation.
