The Ffestiniog Railway is running again after a while in lockdown albeit with a limited timetable. Visitors need to book online, all carriages have separate compartments to comply with social distancing and the trains operate a return service from Porthmadog to Tan-y-Bwlch only. In order to make the journey last and make a day out for the passengers the locomotives travel no more than 15 miles per hour. The Tan-y-Bwlch Tea Room is open for business again but at present there is no indoor seating.

One of the most obvious changes made recently at Tan-y-Bwlch Station on the Ffestiniog Railway has been the clearfelling of the large conifer plantation on the hillside from opposite the station down the cutting as far as the 1853 bridge over the road to Rhyd. The result has made the area around the tea room much brighter. The railway has also carried out lineside clearance which sadly included the removal of an oak tree that stood opposite the tea room.
