Yes indeed, a display showing the old skill of hand riveting. On the left the rivet boy or 'cook' is heating rivets to red heat in a portable forge. To his right the 'holder-up' is holding the rivet in place with a rivet set or dolly. On the other side of the structure two riveters are hammering the rivet to form a flat head. When the rivet cools it contracts and hold the two pieces of metal together tightly. Modern ships are of welded construction and rivets are largely reserved for the heritage sector.
