Whitlingham War Memorial
Whitlingham War Memorial bearing the names of the two men who fell in the Great War 1914-1919 and another two men who were killed in the Second World War
Private William Pye served in the Norfolk Regiment and was killed 3rd October 1916, he was the son of William and Violet Pye, of B.B. Cottages, Whitlingham.
George Shearing is named on the Kirby Bedon WW1 War Memorial.
Richard Matthews is named on the Kirby Bedon WW2 Memorial. George West was the son of Edmund and Gertrude West, of Lakenham. He married Amy Elizabeth Newitt in 1939 moved to Hill Cottages in Whitlingham. He served as a driver in the RASC 593 Transport Coy, and in the Ammunition Column for 33rd Brigade. He was injured and returned home where he died 13th September 1943. He is Buried in Thorpe (St Andrew) Church Cemetery extension. His grave can be seen here Link
