For any young people to whom this means nothing see LinkExternal link . This is a left-handed [clockwise twining] Honeysuckle stem that has been climbing up a railing for some time. No bindweed nearby!
Unfortunately, as far as I can see, they got it wrong as they refer to the Honeysuckle both as 'right-handed' and 'clockwise' but these are opposites - as the stem rises up, moving left, from lower right to upper left, it is turning clockwise. A search has not revealed any suggestion that they got it wrong.
