Prohibition notice in Farnley Hall Park
Forbidden activities are "the playing of golf strokes and the flying of model aircraft". The sign appears to be quite old - maybe 1970s? - when these were more popular activities than nowadays. I wonder whether the ban on 'model aircraft' could be taken to apply to their contemporary equivalent, drones?
Farnley Hall and park, Leeds
The hall was originally the country house of Sir Thomas Danby, first Mayor of Leeds, built 1586. It was altered in the 19th and 20th centuries by the Armitage family, and is listed grade II (list entry 1256104). Since 1945 it has been owned by Leeds City Council, and used as offices. The grounds covering 16 hectares of grassland and woodland are what is left of a Norman deer park, now a public park including sports pitches and children's playground.
