Modern drive to Farnley Hall, and car park
The original drive was to the south of the hall and is no longer used by motor vehicles. This present entrance is off Hall Lane to the north-east.
Farnley Hall and park, Leeds
The hall was originally the country house of Sir Thomas Danby, first Mayor of Leeds, built 1586. It was altered in the 19th and 20th centuries by the Armitage family, and is listed grade II (list entry 1256104). Since 1945 it has been owned by Leeds City Council, and used as offices. The grounds covering 16 hectares of grassland and woodland are what is left of a Norman deer park, now a public park including sports pitches and children's playground.
