Mark Wallinger's Labyrinths

Mark Wallinger, one of the UK’s leading contemporary artists, has created a major new artwork for London Underground to celebrate its 150th anniversary. The result, commissioned by Art on the Underground, is a multi-part work on a huge scale that will be installed in every one of the Tube’s 270 stations.

Walking the lines

A few years ago I read a book by Mark Mason "Walking the lines" in which he walked the route of the London Underground lines, overground. I will repeat this visiting all 272 stations (some more than once). My route tries to follow the line of the railway as closely as possible, using footpaths and roads, deviations are made to make the walk more "interesting".

Turnham Green Underground Station

Turnham Green is a London Underground station in Chiswick, west London. The station is served by the District and Piccadilly lines although currently Piccadilly line trains normally stop at the station only at the beginning and end of the day, running through non-stop at other times. To the east, District line trains stop at Stamford Brook and Piccadilly line trains stop at Hammersmith. To the west, District line trains run to either Chiswick Park or Gunnersbury and Piccadilly line trains stop at Acton Town. The station is in both Travelcard Zone 2 and Zone 3.
The station is located on Turnham Green Terrace (B491) on the eastern edge of Chiswick Common, but the actual green is much closer to Chiswick Park station. It is about 200 m north of Chiswick High Road (A315) and as well as Central Chiswick, the station serves the Bedford Park area. The Station opened in 1869.
