Not-the-bus shelter, Cerne Abbas
The shelter in the foreground was built in 1953 to commemorate the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. It was a bus shelter until the 1970s, but from then on there was insufficient space for buses to turn in this part of the village. Ever since, the shelter has been known as Not-The-Bus Shelter.

The shelter was renovated in 2006 with funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund, the Nationwide Building Society and The Countryside Agency.
