The 'Dirty Bottles' (Ye Old Cross Public House), Narrowgate, Alnwick
This iconic public house has undergone some changes since Richard Croft visited here in October 2009 Link. This Grade II Listed building mainly dates back to the 17th century although the upside down shield high above the entrance is probably from the 13th century. On the ground floor is an old bow window containing the dirty bottles said to have been left there in the early 19th century and by local superstition
