Even though it is nowhere near spring tide, and low tide is some way off, Saltburn pier barely reaches the waves, so fishing off the end is probably a non-starter. Digging for bait in the sands underneath is clearly a popular pastime, however, so presumably it is more rewarding when the tide is actually in. The risk of catching something bigger than you can eat, along with its surf-board, must be quite high, as those fishing lines are near invisible when you're heading inshore at speed.
