Commonwealth War Grave, St Peter's Graveyard, Sparty Lea
Grave in remembrance of 20/846 Private William Vickers, serving in the Durham Light Infantry, who died on Sunday 22 April 1917 (aged 20). He was the son of Robert and Mary Ann Vickers, of Allendale, Northumberland. His name is included on the War Memorial at Allenheads and on a plaque in the Primitive Methodist Chapel at Sparty Lea. Parish Records indicate that he died in University College London after being discharged from service and invalided home from France.
