TF5576 : The Cloud Bar

taken 4 years ago, near to Anderby Creek, Lincolnshire, England

The Cloud Bar
The Cloud Bar
There is summat rather bonkers about almost everything at Anderby Creek, but this has to be the strangest of all their affectations.

The Cloud Bar is a purpose-built cloud observatory. You walk up onto the roof of it and look at exactly the same sky you can see from ground level or from the adjacent dune, which is at the same altitude. Designed by Michael Trainor, of the Cloud Appreciation Society, it is topped with concrete models of the cloud symbols used on TV weather maps and some entirely pointless mirrors that you can swivel, but still need to look upwards at TF5576 : Weird mirrors. The whole thing is entirely eccentric and simultaneously wonderful and pointless.

Access from the car park is by a wheel-chair suitable ramp, but there is no way to get a disabled person up the steps to the top.
