This grand High Victorian Gothic building was built from 1874-80 for A.M. Speer by Henry Haddon. The building is situated in Priory Park and this has housed the headquarters of the Malvern Hills District Council for a few decades.
This square and its neighbour to the west cover a part of the Malvern Hills with an extraordinary density of bridleways. There is a square kilometre here (not coincident with the grid square) which is a very strong candidate for the title of 'greatest length of public rights of way per sq km anywhere in England and Wales'.
