taken 4 years ago, near to Ayle, Northumberland, England

Border post
Border post
The boundary between Cumberland and Northumberland on the South Tynedale Railway where it crosses Gilderdale Burn. Alston is a curious outlier of Cumbria at the head of South Tynedale, with the only direct access to the rest of the county being over the Hartside Pass.
