Tithe Barn, Great Swinburne
Tithe Barn, Great Swinburne
Tithe barns were common across much of northern Europe in the Middle Ages. Farmers were required to give one-tenth of their produce to the Church, and these 'tythes' were stored in the barn, which was often associated with the local church or rectory. This tithe barn near Great Swinburne was built in the late 18th century and is a Grade II listed building.
