Cafe in the stable yard, Muncaster Castle
Because of Covid-19 there were no tables available inside the cafe at this time: it was a takeaway operation with tales in the stable yard for customers.
Muncaster Castle and grounds
The castle, unlike many, is owned neither by English Heritage nor the National Trust but is still in the hands of the Pennington family who have owned it almost continuously since the 13th century. The grounds of around 100ha, including an owl sanctuary, are open to the public for a fee and are grade II* listed (entry 1000669). The castle and the parish church within the grounds are listed grade I.
