The main entrance of the grade I listed church, though it was closed at the time of my visit. See SD1096 : Muncaster St Michael for context and brief history.
Muncaster Castle and grounds

The castle, unlike many, is owned neither by English Heritage nor the National Trust but is still in the hands of the Pennington family who have owned it almost continuously since the 13th century. The grounds of around 100ha, including an owl sanctuary, are open to the public for a fee and are grade II* listed (entry 1000669). The castle and the parish church within the grounds are listed grade I.
