SD7896 : The infant Ure from Green Bridge

taken 3 years ago, 3 km from Grisedale, Cumbria, England

The infant Ure from Green Bridge
The infant Ure from Green Bridge
A far cry from Aysgarth Falls, the infant River Ure has just formed on the hillside above and is flowing into the big north-south trench that is mostly occupied by the Eden Valley. But as it turns south of the watershed at Aisgill summit, this is indeed Wensleydale, traversed for less than 4 km by the Settle-Carlisle railway upon which a northbound passenger train can be seen trundling towards the start of its long descent into the lowlands and Carlisle.
