In 1980 Killingworth Village won the 'Village' category of the Britain in Bloom competition LinkExternal link (Archive LinkExternal link ) as well as the 'Prix D'Honneur in the Entente Florale competition LinkExternal link in 1981. These two stone plaques are set into an old stone wall which forms a grand
