St. John the Evangelist Church, Killingworth Village
St. John the Evangelist Church, Killingworth Village
When the first edition of the Ordnance Survey Six-Inch map of the area was published in 1865 this church had not been built, and the village was served by a Wesleyan Methodist Chapel at the bend in West Lane. In the same year, Killingworth was separated from Longbenton to become its own distinct ecclesiastical parish, and in 1869 St. John the Evangelist Church was consecrated. The church is a Grade II Listed building. For a selection of detailed free to download walking routes in the area visit LinkExternal link
