Ancient field boundaries & cairns at Darney Crag
A prehistoric field system lies near Darney Crag above the valley of the River Rede. It consists of field clearance cairns and banks, as well as several burial cairns. Some of the burial cairns have retaining kerbs around the base and one has been disturbed. There are also the remains of two sub-rectangular buildings which are probably medieval shielings. The remains were first discovered in 1981.
