Small Pond at Turbine 5, Muirhall Windfarm
It looks like a planned pond, no doubt to help with drainage, but hard to tell for sure. I read on an online pdf-file site report from 2014 that the floating roads around the site were sinking. Not sure if this has since been addressed or not, but the roads between the turbines are at times noticeably below the height of the surrounding peat bog.
Muirhall Windfarm has 11 turbines, generating about 27MW. It was built in three stages, and while the whole site is generally referred to as Muirhall Windfarm, officially this is only the name for the original group of sixth turbines, which have a blade tip height of 125m, and each generate 2.05MW. These were operational from 2011. Next, in 2014, came the two 3.2MW turbines of Muirhall Extension, with a record-breaking (at time of first operation at least) blade tip height of 147m. And finally three more 2.75MW 145m turbines were added at Muirhall South in 2016.
A bit complicated to figure out who owns and manages what exactly but all seems to be closely associated with the nearby Muirhall Farm.
