This is believed to have been the last time a passenger train stopped at Fawley Station, situated at the entrance to Fawley Refinery, near Southampton.
The occasion was a Private Charter using two Hampshire Units coupled together, the date was Sunday 23rd April 1978 and the train had started from Totton on the main Southampton to Bournemouth Line.
