Horsley Tower
... also known as Pele Tower.
Details on internet state that it was probably built as late as the reign of Henry VII for the Horsleys, who were of knightly rank.
Built in times of battle, as a defence against raiding Scots from across the border.
There may have been a building on the same site which fell into disrepair and subsequently rebuilt as the present Tower of Longhorsley. In later years it became the home of the catholic clergy of the village.
