Great Yarmouth bus at Vauxhall Bridge – 1971
Even in those days the bridge had been partially closed and restricted to traffic to Vauxhall Station itself. Originally carrying rail tracks to riverside wharfs, it is now restricted to pedestrian and cycle traffic Link .
No.19 'Rambouillet' (named after Yarmouth's French twin town) is a Daimler Freeline type, a real rarity. In comparison with the equivalent chassis type from AEC and Leyland, of which thousands were built, a mere 82 were built for UK use, of which just 18 were buses rather than touring coaches. This was the very last of the type to enter service, in April 1964.
This is one of a series of views featuring buses in the 60s, 70s, and 80s. Link
