Bothal Castle
Bothal Castle
Bothal Castle was built c.1150AD. It stands on the spur of a hill with steep slopes on all sides except the north. A rampart of earth surrounds a central area. The entrance is protected by a gatehouse, which was also used as the keep. This was in ruins until the early 19th century, when it was repaired. It is a Grade I Listed Building protected by law.
