NY9864 : Cross in the Market Place

taken 17 years ago, near to Corbridge, Northumberland, England

Cross in the Market Place
Cross in the Market Place
The cross bears a plaque with the name of Hugh Percy, (then) Duke of Northumberland, and the date 1814 - see NY9864 : Plaque on the cross in the Market Place. The upturned crescent on the (south) side of the metal base of the cross is the Duke's symbol - see NY8577 : The door of the Pinfold for another example. Parts of the Vicar's Pele and St. Andrew's Church can be seen in the background.
