Downspout and drain
Plastic downspout and drain on the corner of a house on Towngate, Smardale. The house, converted from a barn is constructed of coursed limestone rubble.
The public road beside the house has very recently been concreted; it continues southwards as a bridleway to Smardale Fell and Brownber.
There is an indistinct Ordnance Survey cut benchmark at the bottom of the wall to the right of the drain (detail photograph NY7307 : Benchmark, Towngate).
