The Chester Millennium Festival Trail is a route that was created in the year 2000, and which winds through the city passing 40 buildings of architectural interest. This marker is named STANLEY PALACE and is No 31. It is set into the pavement next to Stotherts Old Books, on the corner of Nicholas Street and Watergate Street. Stanley Palace is a late Elizabethan town house that dates to 1590. The Stanley family were once custodians of the Watergate, which is a short distance away.
