NJ2567 : Ice Shelf

taken 4 years ago, 4 km SE of Lossiemouth, Moray, Scotland

Ice Shelf
Ice Shelf
This doesn't look much, but it is really quite interesting. The shelf of ice must have formed on the surface of the Innes Canal when the water level was several inches higher than it is now, and has been left hanging when the water level dropped. There were several of these shelves along the banks of the canal.
