We had followed a road because it was one we hadn't been on before and we didn't know where it went. Disappointingly it went to a gate into the gravel workings. We debated briefly whether we would go through the gate, at the risk of being unwelcome, and then noticed this path that seems to be bypassing the works, so we decided to follow it. It soon emerged from the trees into a scrubby area with numerous self-seeded saplings.
