Both the C17 High Cross at the top of Boroughgate and the adjacent C19 cast iron lamp are Grade II* listed structures. There is a sundial on the top of the cross and an Ordnance Survey cut benchmark on the plinth (photograph NY6820 : Benchmark, Appleby High Cross).
