Micheldever Oil Terminal (disused)
Micheldever Oil Terminal (disused)
Seen from the rear of a train travelling at some considerable speed, are the sidings of the former oil terminal. Built into the hillside to protect it from hostile activity during World War 2, the facility saw only little use in latter years. A local branch of Shell did distribute fuel from here for some time but the sidings became a storage facility for redundant coaches and wagons. The site though, remains secure, possibly as a facility in reserve.
