Statue of Queen Victoria, Tynemouth
Statue of Queen Victoria, Tynemouth
Unveiled in October 1902, this sculpting by Alfred Turner shows the Queen in the twilight of her reign and cost £1,000 to construct. The eagle-eyed will note that the work now lacks the sceptre which was once held in the Queen's right hand. The monument, which consists of a Portland stone ashlar base and a bronze statue, is Grade II Listed. For a selection of detailed free to download walking routes in the area visit LinkExternal link
