Urswick Church
St. Mary and St. Michael's Church is Grade I Listed and the oldest church in the Furness area; it has been suggested that some of the masonry may be of Roman origin.
When the road beside the churchyard was being widened in the 1960s ancient graves were uncovered west and northwest of the church, indicating that this was a religious site in Celtic times. The finding of the graves was never officially recorded as doing so would have held up the work!
