Weir near High Ure, Ulverston
Weir near High Ure, Ulverston
The weir and an adjacent sluice directs water from Gill Banks Beck into a mill race which formerly supplied several mills in Ulverston, before rejoining Town Beck (a continuation of Gill Banks Beck) in the town centre.
A public footpath runs beside the weir and crosses the small bridge beside the sluice; it is also the Cumbria Way Alternative Route between Gill Banks and Old Hall Farm (next photograph SD2879 : Kissing Gate near High Ure).
